Board Meeting Minutes

Jerry Gladstone
July 31, 2007, Rob and Mary Neidel's home, Petaluma

President Kurt Fischer called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm.

Attendees:  President Kurt Fischer, Vice President & der Riesenbaum Editor Bill Walters, Treasurer Lynn Roberts, Secretary Jerry Gladstone, Social Chair Mary Neidel, Webmaster Rob Neidel, Membership Directors Dave and LaVonne Benson and Good Store Director Scott Peterson.

Minutes:  The minutes of previous meeting were approved as submitted.

President's Report: We will have a Porsche Corral at the August 25/26 Grand Am/IRL races at Infineon Raceway. Kurt is purchasing a block of 50 discounted tickets which will be available to members for $50 for the two-day ticket (versus $90 at the gate); the first 30 purchasers will also receive a free paddock pass. The ticket sales are expected to net $1250 which will be donated to CASA. Contact Kurt to purchase.  We are too late to be selected for a 2008 Escape. Both Sierra Nevada and Roadrunner Regions beat us in applying.  Roadrunner will host the 2008 Escape based on their four year's of success running the Fiesta del Sol. Greg and Nancy Chambers' tour last Saturday was outstanding - a perfect day. A number of potential new members were met along the way. Bill Walters' 1965 911 was a big hit as the display at Amarita Winery.

Vice President's Report: Bill reported on finding a number of new prospects to join our club/region.

Treasurer's Report: Income for June was $1,470.00, expenses $1,606.64 for a net income loss of $136.64. Total assets stand at $15,709.64.  Income from the autocross was $1,470.00 with an expenditure of $816; the new der Riesenbaum cost $489.04. Lynn noted that our assets are staying fairly constant for these last few months.

Membership Report: The July membership report showed 6 new members, 2 transfers in, 1 transfer out, 20 renewals, 16 non-renewals and 10 dual members for a total membership of 518.  The August membership report is due our tomorrow.

der Riesenbaum Editor's Report: We need to develop a streamlined process for mailing hardcopy der Riesenbaums. Constant Contact has continued to be problematic to work with, though with lots of hard work it eventually turns out very well.  Bill has received many, many compliments including one from the national newsletter editor. Jerry will investigate the viability of using a different newsletter program. He also suggested that we fulfill the need for a "technical" article by interviewing local Porsche shops with questions of general interest to our members.

Dinner: Rob and Mary Neidel barbequed delicious marinated chicken served with home grown tomato salad (thanks Scott and Cheryl), baked beans, corn-on-the-cob, fruit salad and a fine assortment of cookies. Thanks Rob and Mary for opening your home for our meeting and preparing an enjoyable dinner.

Webmaster's Report: The website is up to date.

Autocross Director's Report: The next autocross will be on August 4. The great airport sit course attracts 35 plus drivers per session, including GGR members. 12 runs have become the norm. We do need new registration/run cards to reflect the higher number of runs.

Concours Chairman's Report: Scheduled at Ledson's September 30.

Goodie Store: Scott will prepare an updated inventory list by the weekend.  For next meeting there will be a proposal for ordering new inventory including women's items. We need a good discussion of new styles. Liquidate old inventory?  The Goodie Store will operate both days at the Grand Am/IRL race weekend.

Advertising Director's Report: All advertisers are paid up for the year!

Social Chairman's Report:   A brunch with a "name" speaker was suggested as a fundraiser for our charity - CASA. Kurt will try to get Jeff Zwart who is now a region member as speaker. (He can tell the tale of his participation in the Trans-Siberian Rally.)

CASA: No report.

New Business:  None.

Holiday Party Report: No report.

Next Meeting: Chevy's, Novato, Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 7:00 pm.

President Kurt Fischer adjourned the meeting at 9:03 pm.
